The Effect of Media and Society on Female Self Image
The media and society effect how females in general are ââ¬Å"supposedâ⬠to look in many different ways. This deals with technology, social media, movies, and also advertisers. This paper will gear more towards how society makes girls turn to eating disorders to make them look accepted. It will also deal with what happens to the mind while these different types of media are being put out. My audience can be girls ranging from any age or anyone that might look at their bodies in the mirror and want to change something. This issue is also continuously growing and constantly being talked about. Yaw Frimpong says in her article MC Modern Gana, ââ¬Å"The woman in the 21st century and her effect on the societyâ⬠As mentioned in the article this isnââ¬â¢t just an issue in America; Yaw explains how girls are treated and seen by society in other countries, such as China, Africa and in Europe. Those women might be in a different place but we are going through the same thing. So me may disagree and say society or the media doesnââ¬â¢t lead women to eating disorders; I personally think they do. Society teaches us that wearing make-up is a sign of how a lady should be; not too many go bare face every day. We are told how to dress and look as far as body type goes; skinny is the way to go according to the media. After hearing this we are insecure if we do not conform to society.
